![]() ![]() Please refer me to one (headless Ubuntu/Debian) if it is known. I do see forum threads complaining of the same problem in the Ubuntu/linux OS, though haven't come across one where the OP reports it to start working. I've also tried setting a custom shell script where the environment variable is defined there, detailed in the below forum thread. opt/calibre/resources/calibre-portable.sh I'm open to using it again, though I'd prefer to see a simple service work with a custom db directory. One may respond saying that you simply need to edit the variable needed and leave the rest 'as is', though the portable version seems to introduce more than my linux skills understand at this point. An official calibre github entry posted a while ago detailed that the portable version locks the files for exclusive app access. Using the portable version proved to be a bit too complicated for me to use at this point. Running printenv returns what I'd expect:ĬALIBRE_OVERRIDE_DATABASE_PATH=/home/a_real_person/calibre-library/db/metadata.dbĪlso tried using this to set the environment variable, but calibre-server doesn't seem to like that: I've tried setting the environment variable in two places: Keeping the environment variable prepended to the command has no bearing on it running successfully once the db is in the same directory as the library. Database syntax - not sure I fully understand the why not the how to accomplish this.Code: CALIBRE_OVERRIDE_DATABASE_PATH=/home/a_real_person/calibre-library/db/metadata.db /opt/calibre/calibre-server /home/a_real_person/calibre-data/test_writeIf I move metadata.db to the library directory (test_write) the server runs successfully. Running Calibre-server so that it runs on port 8080 and pointing to the correct folder to allow for importing of newly added ebooks.ģ. The exact same one heres the text after running Calibre from the command line post-install: qt.qpa. Installed from the website (the one-line console command), and have the same issue. Go to the official Calibre website and get it from there. Configure a non-standard user to use with calibre (would separate user accounts allow for separating books by user?)Ģ. Most Linux suppositories BOTCH Calibre big time. What I'm confused about are the commands to:ġ. My goal is to have Calibre running with the web interface at 8080, configured to point to a specific folder for new ebooks to import (I think I have the correct command here as an example) so any books I upload will automatically be imported via a cron job on my CLI Linux VPS and of course access the web interface remotely. I have Calibre installed via the Linux install instructions. I found the following thread here but is a bit dated and one of the links is broken and it's almost a decade old. Use the remote Ubuntu computer users login password. Use your remote Ubuntu Computers username. I read through this HowTo but she appears to be using a GUI with her Linux distro here. When you try to access the remote computer using (X)/RDP, you may see this dialog box on your RDP/XRDP client: Set Session to XOrg, the default. ![]() I have Calibre installed using the code here. I'm looking for a current HowTo for installing and running Calibre-server on a Linux VPS CLI only setup. ![]()
